New Zealand Mountain Bike Eco Tours

New Zealand is named Aotearoa by the Maori, which means 'land of the long white cloud'. It is quite simply spectacular. Covered in rugged mountains, lakes, fiords and glaciers, wild rivers and waterfalls, native forest, beautiful beaches, rocky coastlines and world class tramping tracks, it is an adventurer's paradise.

This 8 day trip is based out of Queenstown, the adventure capital of the world. Nestled on the banks of stunning Lake Wakatipu and backdropped by mountain ranges, it is the perfect setting. Here we will stay in comfort and take in the best Queenstown has to offer including jet boating, white water rafting, heli-biking and plenty of great single track.

This trip is perfect for families/couples where some members don't mountain bike, as there are plenty of other activities we can arrange so everyone can have a great time.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Queenstown, New Zealand. We will pick you up from the airport. Dinner and debriefing. We will take the gondola up, overlooking Lake Wakatipu, and then ride 'the luge'!

Day 2: Our first mountain bike action - we will explore some great single track along the shores of Lake Wakatipu. We will head down to the lake for lunch and a swim before heading back to town.

Day 3: HELIBIKING! We travel by helicopter (with the bikes caged on the side) to the top of the Remarkables Mountain Range (as seen in the Lord of the Rings films) and barrel down, coming out at the Kawarau Bridge, the site of the world's first bungee jump. An UNFORGETTABLE day!

Day 4: Today we will ditch the bikes for paddles. After an exhilerating jet boat ride on the world famous 'shotover jet' we will bus deep into Skipper's Canyon for an afternoon of white water rafting.

Day 5: We will get back on the bikes and take a nice, long ride out to Mace Town, an old mining town and now a ghost town. There are plenty of river crossings, great single track and spectacular scenery.

Day 6: After breakfast we will head up the valley and ride out around Moke Lake; again some great single track and plenty of sheep! For those who haven't had enough, they can hit another three trails of single track as we head back to Queenstown.

Day 7: Today we will go out to Queenstown's Animal Park. This reserve allows us to be dropped off by road in the support van, and then barrel down through the park, stopping to see a variety of animals before hitting the bottom, loading up the bikes and doing it all again!

Day 8: An early breakfast will allow us to get in a 2-3 hour ride around the point. In the afternoon we can transfer you to the airport for your flights home, or you can extend your stay to enjoy more of New Zealand. We will be more than happy to advise a great itinerary to make the most of your remaining time in the country.
